Andrea Cillo, Ballet Instructor
Andrea Cillo is a resident of Smithtown and started dancing when she was three. She has received her classical training at the Frank Ohman School of Ballet since the age of seven. She has performed many roles in NYDT’s “The Nutcracker” from angel, to Clara, to the corps de ballet and solo variations. She has danced the principal roles of Snow Queen, Dew Drop and Sugarplum. In 2003 and 2004 Andrea attended the prestigious New York State Summer School of the Arts program in Saratoga Springs where she studied with various members of the New York City Ballet including Jennifer Tinsley, Damian Woetzel, and Amanda Edge. In 2005 and 2006 she attended American Ballet Theater’s summer intensive program in Austin, Texas where she was taught by former members of ABT, including George de la Pena, Jolinda Menendez, Lawrence Pech, Christine Spizzo and Ronn Tice. In 2007 Andrea returned to ABT with the Collegiate Intensive and again to Texas in 2008 with the contemporary company Ballet Austin. She has performed various Balanchine variations (both with NYDT and NYSSSA), as well as several choreographed pieces, the role of Zulma from “Giselle” and Gamzatti from “La Bayadere”. Now a ballet teacher, Andrea is continuing her own dance education and career. She is currently attending the Tri-State College of Acupuncture and will graduate with her Master’s degree in the spring of 2013.
